A small team from The Woodlands Methodist Church will travel with Mesa Global to Medellín, Colombia, to see firsthand how theological education strengthens the local church and equips leaders for ministry. Together, we will visit Biblical Seminary of Colombia, engage with the Latin America Regional Training Hub, and spend time with pastors, educators, mentors, and local ministry leaders who are helping make biblical training more accessible across the region. This vision trip will help deepen TWMC’s partnership with Mesa Global as we listen, learn, pray, and discern how God is inviting us to continue serving and equipping the global church.

Optional Extension: Team members may also extend their trip through May 20 to visit additional TWMC global partners, including Conectar Global and Christian Sports United.

No. This is a vision and relationship-building trip focused on learning, listening, and discernment rather than a hands-on work project. Expect teaching sessions, site visits, conversations with local leaders, and guided times of prayer and reflection (a daily "Examen") rather than physical labor.

The team will fly via United Airlines from Houston to Medellín, Colombia, arriving the afternoon of May 13. We will be transported via ground transportation (bus) to the hotel.

Yes, you will need a passport that does not expire within six months from the date of your return. No visa is required.

Participants must be adults (18+). This trip is geared toward adults interested in learning more about theological education.

  • Thursday, May 13 — Seeing the Context: Problem and Lament: Arrive in Colombia, check in and rest at the Movich (Intercontinental) Hotel, group orientation, a city tour ("Seeing the World God Sees"), and dinner at the home of an FUSBC seminary board member, closing with a Daily Examen on lament.
  • Friday, May 14 — Reason for Hope: A full day at FUSBC Seminary focused on Mesa Global's Regional Training Hub strategy, trends shaping ministry in Latin America, the seminary's role and Mesa Scholars, a prayer walk, and an interactive "What Kind of Leader?" leadership formation experience.
  • Saturday, May 15 — Reason for Hope: Visit a church plant and have lunch with Pastor Samuel, then visit with Pastor Dario to see church planting and church planter training in practice. Evening free for rest, conversation, and dinner at a restaurant, closing with a Daily Examen on hope.
  • Sunday, May 16 — What's Our Part to Play?: Visit Comuna 13 with a local pastor, trip to the Botanical Garden for lunch and debrief, a visit to a partner ministry training hospital chaplains, and dinner at a host home, closing with a Daily Examen on God's mission.
  • Monday, May 17 — Reflection to Close the Pilgrimage: Morning reflection, hotel check-out at 11:00, lunch, and a 3:10 pm departure flight.

Yes. Team members may extend their trip to visit additional TWMC global partners, including Conectar Global and Christian Sports United.

The team will stay at the Movich (Intercontinental) Hotel in Medellín. Married couples can share a room, or two same-gender team members will share a room.

Meals are included throughout the trip — breakfast at the hotel, and lunches and dinners at a mix of the seminary, local restaurants, and host homes. Please let us know of any dietary needs when prompted on the trip registration form.

No. A translator will be provided for all events when necessary. We also encourage you to download Google Translate to help with Spanish conversations.

Since this is a relationship- and learning-focused trip rather than physical labor, dress will lean smart-casual for sessions and visits, with modest, respectful attire for church and ministry site visits.
