Confirmation

Hear firsthand how confirmation is changing lives. Watch this short video featuring stories from confirmands, high school mentors and parent leaders.

WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?

Confirmation is a sacred rite of passage in which baptized believers publicly affirm their faith in Jesus Christ and commit to following Him as faithful disciples. All incoming sixth graders — whether already baptized or not — are welcome to participate. Those who have not yet been baptized will have the opportunity to receive baptism prior to Confirmation Sunday in May.
Through a year-long journey of discipleship rooted in Scripture and supported by Christian community, confirmands are spiritually formed to become full members of The Woodlands Methodist Church — empowered by the Holy Spirit and sent to live on mission for the kingdom of God.

CONFIRMATION 2025-2026

THE WOODLANDS CAMPUS

The confirmation journey at TWMC consists of the following:

Religious instruction (Catechesis)
The laying on of hands by the pastors of TWMC on Confirmation Sunday in May (Confirmation)
The invocation of the Holy Spirit into the hearts and minds of each confirmand (Confirmation)

Confirmation Sessions Overview

Confirmation follows the school year calendar, running from August to May, and is structured into three key phases:

  • Roots (Aug–Nov): Grounded in God’s Word and the story of Scripture
  • Grow (Dec–Feb): Developing personal discipleship and worship
  • Thrive (Mar–May): Living out faith through service and mission

Each confirmand is placed in a house group of 7–10 peers, guided by a team of parents and high school student leaders. These groups foster spiritual growth, accountability and lasting relationships.

There are 25 Sunday sessions throughout the year, held in Wesley Hall from 9:00–10:15 a.m. Each session includes large group teaching, house group discussion and interactive activities designed to help students better understand and live out their faith.

Confirmation Requirements

To complete the confirmation journey and prepare for full membership in The Woodlands Methodist Church, confirmands are expected to fulfill commitments in the following areas:

  • Regular participation in Sunday morning sessions
  • Faithful worship attendance at TWMC
  • Attendance at the Confirmation Retreat
  • Memorization of selected Scripture passages

Parent Leaders

Parent leaders play a vital role in the confirmation journey. They help guide, encourage and model what it means to follow Jesus for a small group of confirmands. They also help track progress and support communication between the church and families. Parent leaders don’t need to be Bible experts — just faithful, caring adults willing to walk alongside students as they grow in their faith.
