Remember Your Baptism

While we acknowledge and affirm that baptism is a Holy Sacrament that occurs once in a person’s life, we also rejoice with those who wish to renew the covenant declared at their baptism. Throughout the Scriptures, we see times when faithful men and women of God gather to renew their covenants with God (Deut. 29, Josh. 8, Josh. 24). In these covenant renewals, the people of God remember that even when our love fails, God’s love remains steadfast. Upon a new experience of God’s grace. we recognize some persons may wish to remember their baptismal covenant with a public expression of faith involving water. This is not a service of re-baptism, but rather a celebration, remembrance and renewal of the covenant that was made at a person’s baptism. Those wishing to participate in this service must meet with a pastor.

There will also be an opportunity at this service for those who wish to be baptized for the first time.

Baptism | Bautismo

Baptism is our initiation into the church and our identification as children of God. God initiates this relationship and chooses us as daughters and sons, beginning our lifelong journey of faith. God’s choice happens regardless of our age or our response. Because God chooses us once and for all, this is an act that should not be repeated. Those who are baptized as children must make the choice to confirm their belief in Christ to continue as members of the church. If you were baptized as a child, there is no need to be baptized again. If your child was baptized as a baby, he/she can later make the choice to profess his/her own faith in Christ in our confirmation program for sixth graders. Baptism for children and adults is offered several times per year. There is a mandatory training for families prior to each date.

El bautismo es nuestra iniciación en la iglesia y nuestra identificación como hijos de Dios. Dios inicia esta relación y nos elige como hijas e hijos, comenzando nuestro viaje de fe de toda la vida. La elección de Dios ocurre independientemente de nuestra edad o nuestra respuesta. Como Dios nos elige de una vez por todas, este es un acto que no debe repetirse. Aquellos que son bautizados como niños deben tomar la decisión de confirmer su creencia en Cristo para continua como miembros de la iglesia. Si fuiste bautizado como niño, no hay necesidad de ser bautizado de nuevo. Si tu hijo fue bautizado como bebé, él/ella puede tomar la decisión de profesar su propia fe en Cristo en nuestro programa de confirmación para alumnos de sexto grado. El bautismo para niños y adultos se ofrece varias veces al año. Hay una capacitación obligatoria para las familias antes de cada fecha.
