We meet in homes around where you live, or at the church. Some groups have one home that desires to host all gatherings, and other groups have a rotation of homes in which to gather.

A typical gathering will last 60-90 minutes. Scripture shows us that Jesus spent a lot of time with strangers, friends and family around a table, so our Home Group gatherings start with food, whether that be simple snacks, ordering pizza or a full meal. After that, we move into our time of discussion, which includes a guide with the lesson and the practical ways we can live it out. Finally, we end in a time of taking prayer requests and prayer for the group.

Our team collects information from the form you fill out and creates the group for you. This group formation is based on when you can meet, frequency of meeting, where you live and components on the form to join a group.

Yes, groups previously were based on what worship community you attended at The Woodlands Methodist Church. We are one church, and although we have different worship communities designed to meet you right where you are, we are called to do life together. We are excited about groups that are made up of people across our entire church community.

Our Home Groups follow the Wesleyan practice of gathering to foster deeper spiritual growth and to do life together. Leaders may use educational materials from trustworthy sources such as RightNow Media, Lifeway, or Seedbed. However, our groups are more than Bible studies. In our gatherings, we also answer questions intended to spark honest, authentic conversations that lead to transformation.

Being a Home Group facilitator means taking on a leadership role, though it does not mean you must be solely responsible for everything within the group. The role includes regularly praying for your group members, preparing any necessary materials beforehand, and keeping records of your group attendance up to date. Being a facilitator is not the same thing as being a host, and it is not required to be a host if you are facilitating.

Being a host simply means being willing to have the meeting in your home. Some groups like to switch host homes weekly, some prefer to meet at the same home on a regular basis, and others meet at the church. No group is exactly the same, and we encourage them to do what is most beneficial for their group to build a consistent, faithful community.
