No, U.M. ARMY is not a church camp. It is a mission trip opportunity for youth and adults to grow in their faith while serving others.

We try to match your strengths to the work involved, and whether it is hard work or not is relative. However, you may be strengthened in ways you find challenging but rewarding.

No, it is not essential to know these things. The beauty of a multi-generational mission trip is that everyone comes together to share their knowledge and skills, learning together to achieve a common goal.

We strive to ensure every work group has a variety of ages, skills and grades to better serve the project. There will be plenty of time to visit with friends, old and new, when we are not working, typically at meals and in the evenings.

We do our best to meet the needs of every volunteer. We have designated volunteers who handle allergen-free food preparation to avoid cross-contamination, and our certified medical volunteers can help in the event of an allergic episode.

We have at least one certified volunteer who meets medical needs and handles prescriptions. If you have medical experience, please consider volunteering.

Through our youth camps at The Woodlands Methodist Church, we have found that a week without their phones benefits everyone. But if there is an emergency, parents can reach out to us, or we can reach out to them.

Free time happens in short intervals. The week is jam-packed, so any available free time will depend on the worksite projects and scheduled events.

All of our food is prepared and donated by volunteers. Our kitchen team works hard to serve nutritious meals at every sitting. Breakfast may include eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, casseroles, pastries, cereal, breads, bars, coffee, and juices. For lunch, everyone makes a sack lunch with sandwiches and snacks. Dinner options range from tacos to casseroles to a full salad bar. A separate table is designated for allergen-free food, managed by trained volunteers. One evening will be spent dining out, and our client night is usually catered. On our last evening together, we typically order pizza.

No, this is a multi-generational mission trip, so our Missions and NextGen staff coordinate to ensure a variety of student grade levels are represented in each group.

We have morning devotionals, praise and worship, and an evening sermon and worship.

We ask all volunteers — adults and students — to commit to the entire week, worksite projects and scheduled events.
