The Elementary Ministry Lead supports the development of a dynamic ministry to first through fourth grade children. In collaboration with the Next Gen Kids Lead Shepherd, and in alignment with The Woodlands Methodist Church’s (TWMC) mission to win people to Jesus Christ, disciple them in faith, and help those in need.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide essential support for the overall function of the elementary ministry, ages 1st through 4th Grade.
Plan and execute the teaching of Sunday morning programming.
Support creating a culture where volunteers love to serve by assisting the Lead Shepherd and volunteers in conducting their mission and programs.
Collaborate with the leaders and volunteers in conducting the mission, goals, and values of NextGen Ministries and The Woodlands Methodist Church (TWMC).
Support the Lead Shepherd and the NextGen Ministry team in developing a unified approach to children’s ministry.
Collaborate with the Special Blessings team to support families of kids with special needs.
Provide guidance to interns on Sunday mornings.
Attend NextGen Ministry staff meetings, church staff meetings, and other meetings deemed appropriate by the Lead Shepherd or NextGen Kids Director.
Collaborate with the Lead Shepherd to develop and implement an ongoing and effective orientation, placement, and assimilation process for volunteers, based on agreed upon protocols and workflows.
STRATEGIC/OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Maintain, and ensure execution of, agreed upon policies, procedures, and standards that ensure the health, safety, and security of children and volunteers. Help ensure all early childhood volunteers are confident in their role in an emergency response.
Serve as a service lead on Sundays, supporting leaders and volunteers as needed.
Maintain systems for set-up and clean-up.
Be present to problem solve or resolve issues that arise during the service (supply needs, tech issues, management needs, behavioral support, etc.).
Organize lesson supplies, edit curriculum, and update databases.
Maintain up-to-date and well-organized files for the early childhood ministry.
Perform other duties as requested by the Shepherd Director or the Lead Shepherd.

Excellent communication [written and oral], skills for work with staff, parents, volunteers, and the children.
Ability to lead people and provide them with encouragement, guidance, feedback, and follow-up – to coach, train, and motivate volunteers.
Ability to work well independently, consistent with biblical truths and church policy.
Excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
Computer and tech literacy: Basic competence with Microsoft Office, CMS, presentation software, website, and social media, and willing and able to be trained further.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires sitting, standing, lifting, reaching and crawling.

Reports to: NextGen Kids Lead Shepherd
Position Type: Part-time
Schedule: As is typical for ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday services and meetings.
Compensation: Dependent on experience
