Overview
The Woodlands Methodist Church (TWMC) exists to Reach People for Jesus, Disciple Them in Faith, and Help Those in Need. We believe Scripture calls every church to take the gospel to its community, its country and the ends of the earth, and we take that calling seriously.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
To live out that calling, TWMC supports individuals and ministry organizations who are reaching people for Jesus, discipling them in faith, and helping those in need. If that is the work God has placed on your heart, we want to hear from you.
Our Philosophy
We believe support is rooted in relationships. When TWMC supports a mission, we are not simply writing a check. We are entering into a relationship with you — praying with you, showing up for you, and walking alongside you in the work God has given you to do.
“For we are co-workers in God’s service.”
1 Corinthians 3:9
Several convictions shape how we approach that work together:
-
Theological integrity
We prioritize ministries where evangelism and discipleship are at the heart of the work. Formal and non-formal theological education is emphasized.
-
Accountability
We look for transparency in budget, communication and impact reporting.
-
Stewardship
Every dollar given to TWMC Missions goes directly to missions. Our mission budget is entirely separate from the church’s general operating fund.
-
Balance
We support both local and global ministries and both spiritual and physical needs.
-
Training local leaders
We invest in leaders who witness within their own context, culture and language.
How We Evaluate Those We Support
We want to be transparent about how we make decisions. Our Missions Committee prayerfully evaluates those seeking support across five areas:
Does your ministry’s mission and belief statement align with TWMC’s to reach people for Jesus (a defined call to evangelism), disciple them in faith (making disciples and planting strong, gospel-centered churches), and/or help those in need (compassion for others)? And does your ministry align with our Core Values:
- Live Faithfully — Integrating spiritual beliefs into all aspects of life.
- Love Compassionately — Creating a caring, supportive and welcoming community.
- Embody Integrity — Acting with trust, honesty and consistency.
- Offer Encouragement — Providing support and positive reinforcement.
- Remain Teachable — Maintaining a desire to learn and grow.
- Be Accountable — Taking ownership and communicating openly.
- Multiply Yourself — Maximizing impact and productivity.
Are your goals and outcomes clearly stated? Do you have a track record of measurable results? How do you evaluate success and faithfulness in ministry?
Is there a clear leadership structure? Are national and local leaders trained, empowered and responsible for results?
Is your ministry financially sound and have resources that match your stated objectives?
Can our members be involved in your ministry through trips, communication, prayer or shared experiences? Will our relationship be mutually beneficial? Can you share stories that help our congregation see God at work in your ministry?
